Retrofits

RETROFITS
With an increasing need to adapt existing buildings and to repurpose structural elements for other uses,
(including energy efficiency, sustainability, and structural resilience) retrofitting has become a critical practice in extending the lifespan and functionality of existing buildings.
Conducting detailed surveys to create accurate plans, sections, and elevations of existing buildings, we provide essential data for planning retrofitting measures, helping to understand what's behind fit-outs and ensuring that modifications integrate seamlessly with the existing structure.
Heritage
HERITAGE
Measured surveys of heritage buildings are essential for documenting, preserving, and restoring historically significant structures. These surveys involve the precise recording of a building’s dimensions, architectural details, and structural conditions, providing a comprehensive dataset for conservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse projects.
We have a wealth of experience working on Graded properties and understand the sensitivity and need for detail required on these projects.
Our surveys offer a detailed record of period architecture, capturing both external and internal features with a high level of precision suitable for conservation projects. Decorative elements such as masonry, stone, brick, timber, and plaster work are carefully documented.

Internal Area Calculations

INTERNAL
AREA
CALCS
Net and gross internal area surveys are carried out to measure and document the usable floor space within a building. These surveys provide essential data on the size and layout of internal areas, supporting purposes such as space planning, leasing, property valuation, and compliance with building regulations.
Net Internal Area (NIA)
refers to the total usable floor space within a building, excluding non-habitable areas like corridors, stairwells, mechanical rooms, and internal walls. It represents the actual space available for occupation, use, or lease.
Gross Internal Area (GIA) encompasses all enclosed floor space within a building, including both the NIA and non-habitable areas such as corridors, stairwells, and service rooms. GIA reflects the total floor area measured within the building’s perimeter walls.
All Surveys are compliant with the RICS 6th Code of Measuring Practice
